Initial Product Pathway

Magnesium recovery is Brivalta's first product pathway.

Brivalta is developing selective magnesium recovery from suitable saline water streams, initially as magnesium hydroxide. Current work is developing the product and process pathway around a real feedstock and a defined customer need. Magnesium is the starting point of Brivalta's broader water and resource-recovery strategy, not its limit.

Mg(OH)2

A practical first product to test against real specifications.

Magnesium hydroxide has established industrial uses, including water and wastewater treatment. It provides a clear route for testing recovery yield, selectivity, filtration, washing, product form and customer performance. Market existence does not by itself prove that recovered material will meet specification or compete on delivered cost.

CURRENT WORK

From market analysis to laboratory development

Current development work covers feedstock screening, market validation, preliminary process architecture, mass-balance and techno-economic modelling, laboratory planning and engagement with potential research, industrial and product-validation partners.

INITIAL MARKET DIRECTION

Water and wastewater treatment first

Brivalta is prioritising water and wastewater treatment as the first application area to validate because it may accept a broader product form than specialist flame-retardant markets. Customer trials, repeatable composition, handling performance and delivered-cost comparison are still required.

LONGER-TERM OPTION

Higher-specification magnesium products

Applications such as halogen-free flame-retardant materials may offer higher value, but require tightly controlled purity, particle size, morphology, surface treatment and performance in compounds. They remain a later qualification pathway, not the current base case.

EVIDENCE NEEDED

What must be demonstrated

Representative feed data; selective recovery and reagent demand; product purity and contaminants; solid-liquid separation and washing; repeatability across batches; customer performance tests; residual-stream management; and a site-specific delivered-cost model.
